BIOGRAPHY

Douglas Byrkit hailing from St. Louis MO is a veteran international touring and recording musician for the Blues Music Awards winning artist Mike Zito and the Blood Brothers, adjunct faculty at Maryville University, and a voting member of the recording academy. 

Douglas graduated from Southern Illinois University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance were he began teaching at the university level in 2009. Since, he has been faculty at several college music departments in the St. Louis region. 

Writing credits include music featured on The Discovery Channel, MTV, A&E, E, Oxygen and OWN Networks as well as several film projects. In addition, he received an ASCAP Plus Award for achievements in songwriting for his work with the Gulf Coast Records recording artist Odds Lane. 

He has performed on a number of Billboard chart topping albums by various artist including Kevin Burt, Kat Riggins, Mike Zito, and The Blood Brothers as well as working with Grammy award winning producers such as David Z, Josh Smith and Joe Bonamassa.
